PBS eXpress
Built specifically for small-frame turbofan and turboprop engines used extensively in the regional jet, business jet, and general aviation markets using our industry-leading engine vibration and balancing technology DNA. The PBS eXpress provides fast vibration assessment and rapid one-shot balancing if necessary. The Trim Balance Wizard makes it easy to set up and use, guiding even 1st-time users to success in as little as two engine runs.
About the PBS eXpress
The PBS eXpress is a vibration measurement and engine rotor balancing system designed for the small-frame turbofan and turboprop engines used extensively in the regional jet, business jet, and general aviation markets. Built upon MTI’s proven PBS 4100+ technology — the most respected turbine engine vibration and balancing solution in the market — the PBS eXpress delivers fast vibration assessment and rapid one-shot balancing when an engine measures an exceedance.
The system is available in two configurations to match your operational environment: a portable on-wing version for field maintenance and line operations, and a rack-mount version (PBS eXpress R+) engineered for MRO test stands and test cell environments. Both versions integrate four instruments in one system with automatic data collection and a guided Balancing Wizard to deliver precise results with minimal engine run time.
Simplicity
- Easy to setup: preconfigured engine parameters — just connect cables and begin testing
- Intuitive touch-based user interface (portable version)
- Works with existing cable sets for enhanced migration capabilities (portable version)
- Compatible with odd-tooth tachometer sensors (including short/long/offset tooth types)
- The PBS eXpress R+ connects directly to test cell data systems via Ethernet-based interface, with no display required — designed for shop environments where the instrument is controlled remotely
Trim Balance Wizard
- Guides even first-time users to success in as little as two engine runs
- Configurable balance speed points and associated bias/weighting
- Transient Balance
- Influence Coefficients
Powerful Visualization
- Vibration surveys with exceedance limits shown on the plot
- Order tracking for accessories such as starter generators and fuel pumps
- Create reports with integrated plots and tables
- Save raw data to CSV files
Data System Integration — PBS eXpress R+ Rack Version
The PBS eXpress R+ is purpose-built for MRO test stands and high-throughput test cell environments.
- Integrates directly with test cell data systems
- Remote control and data transfer via Ethernet-based digital data interface
- Optional analog output channels configurable to any measured parameter, including vibration, speed, and phase
Who Benefits
- MRO Organizations: Both versions support rapid problem identification and resolution. Line maintenance teams rely on the portable version for fast on-wing turnarounds. MRO shops running dedicated test stands benefit from the PBS eXpress R+, with its test cell data system integration, Ethernet-based remote control, and configurable analog outputs.
- Operators of Small to Mid-sized Corporate Jets: Designed to meet the price point and service requirements of corporate aviation, the portable PBS eXpress delivers upmarket balancing capability without the upmarket cost.
- Regional, Business, and General Aviation Markets: Supports the full range of engines used in these markets, with a continuously expanding list of supported platforms.
